'1st Bedfordshires. Part Two: Arras to the Armistice'

Due for general release autumn 2012

This will be the second half of the 1st Battalion's story, covering the period from October 1916 until the end of the war.

In the final two years of the Great War, the 1st Bedfordshires were engaged at the Battle of Arras, the capture of Oppy Wood, several phases of the Third Battle of Ypres 1917 (a.k.a. Passchendaele), the German Spring Offensives and the final '100 Days' of battles in 1918.

They were also among the handful of British divisions rushed to the Italian Front late in 1917 but spent the rest of their time on the Western Front.

If you would like to share images, letters or stories of your ancestors' time in the battalion, feel free to contact me.

At the moment, my focus is on men from the 1st Battalion who served between between October 1916 and 1919 but if your relatives served in another battalion entirely, make yourself know to me anyway as their time will come!

Kindly note that from March 2012, I expect to be in the final editing phase so would find it more difficult to include new information.

More details to follow soon ...
